First International Composition Contest
„Academician Prof. Marin Goleminov
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the composer Marin Goleminov (1908 – 2000), Orange
Factory psychoacoustic arts organizes an international composition contest for chamber music.
Among his generation, Marin Goleminov was the most distinguished Bulgarian composer. Being a
pupil of Vincent d'Indy and Paul Dukas in Paris, in the capacity of composer and conductor, he was
an active participant in the European musical life and left shining traces in the field of composition,
conducting and music pedagogy. He was of the first ones, who broke with the tradition of national
folklorist academism and turned the face to new, idiosyncratic works, which are very Bulgarian in
their own way, but use a concentrated, expressive and universal musical language based on common
artistic idioms. He has left works in different genres – opera, Lied, ballet, instrumental concerto and
others. His chamber music works, in particular the string quartets, are among the best achievements
of the genre.
